The Boothbay Harbor Tuna Challenge will be donating a portion of the proceeds to the Fisherman's Memorial Fund.

The Boothbay Region Fishermen’s Memorial, located on Atlantic Avenue on the east side of Boothbay Harbor, features a solid bronze dory placed on a massive granite block. The dory, with its oars at rest, stand watch in remembrance of all of the region’s fishermen who lost their lives in the commercial fishing industry.

The Boothbay Region Fishermen’s Memorial Fund was established by a group of dedicated residents whose goal was to raise the needed funds to construct the memorial and to ensure that funding would always be available to maintain and upgrade the memorial.

Thanks to the continuing efforts of those in charge of the Fund, the memorial still stands as a visual reminder to locals and visitors alike of the fishermen who have died on the ocean in their quest to bring home the catch.

The Fishermen’s Memorial Committee also offers a yearly Memorial Scholarship to Boothbay Region High School graduates who are continuing their studies in marine-related fields.

We will also be hosting a mackerel fishing tournament for children and teens! There will be no requirement to buy tickets ahead of the event. This tournament will be selling its own merchandise onsite at the Carousel Marina! We are looking forward to getting young members of the community together.
